Running in the Rain

So this week of marathon training so far has been one EPIC FAIL.

I sadly got the flu which has sidelined me in general. I think I had a bit of a panic attack just dealing with my lack of job and the fact that I am taking a lot of time off from “real life” to go travel this summer. All I know is that Sunday evening I took my temperature and it was 102. Seriously, I thought I had the swine flu.

I slept most of the weekend and followed it with also sleeping away Monday and most of yesterday. I felt like such a loser and it started to make me nervous that I wasn’t “accomplishing” anything, even though I could hardly move.

Today I woke up feeling better and decided to organize my room which always gives me a general sense of calm, I still have a few more things to finish tonight (like going through some closets to get rid of some clothes) but I have a fresh new start.

I am running a 5 mile race this weekend (even though I need to be running 7 miles, which will mean that I will need to get up and do a 2 mile “warm up”). It is my last race to qualify for the 2010 New York Marathon so I am really excited about it. Also it is the Gay Pride Run!

I have to say that I am in hard-core healthy eating/workout mode right now partially because I am going to be living in a bikini in two weeks. Tomorrow I am going to get up super-early to beat the heat and run 4 miles then do some lifting… Hopefully tonight I can force myself to get to bed at reasonable hour.

Tonight, I went for an easy 3 mile run in the rain. Washed off all of my stress an anxiety and let myself be just EXCITED for the few months to come.
