Training So Far
So my marathon training is going well…not amazing but well.
I have three different training plans that I have sitting in front of me.
#1 is from Gracie’s Gear- It was a free plan that I got with a top of mine. Since I am a marathon novice she started it June 1st. I have been pretty solid following it but to be honest haven’t done ALL of my runs. I like the way it is set up 🙂
#2 is from the Nike Run Club off the Chicago Marathon Website. This plan started Monday…it is similar in mileage but does have some more cross training thrown in.
#3 starts next Monday June 22nd and is from Runners World. I know it is a cop out but it makes me happy to know that I am “ahead” in some of the plans.
I am going to look at all of them and try to see what seems to work the best for me. The biggest difference is the long runs. With the Gracie’s gear plan I have TWO 20 mile runs. With the Nike Run Club I have a 16/18/20. With Runner’s World I have two 20s and a 18.
I know for sure this Sunday I am running 6 miles. Thankfully the first two plans agree on that.
In all of this I am realize I don’t stretch enough at all. I am going to start to stretching out my back more and also doing yoga on my days off… Bikram has been death on my knees lately so maybe I’ll try something a bit more restorative.
So 17 days in I’m feeling good! Need to keep stepping it up but its ON ladies and gentlemen!
