Chicago (it’s cold.)

I have landed in Chicago and I am currently pondering going outside to do a long run in this beautiful winter weather.

For some odd reason I’m being a baby about it…oh wait, IT IS FREEZING! 22 degrees is even aggressive for me when I’m doing just a simple training run. I was hoping for weather in the 40s so I could run along Lake Michigan but alas I come back to below freezing temperatures.

I have to say I did bring my shoes, winter running gear and my planned run printed out from I did have some really lofty goals about running Lake Michigan but I think I may hit up in my boyfriend’s apartment’s lovely gym.

I have said this before and I will say it again, I hate the treadmill but I do need to get over my hatred and be able to do some of my workouts on it instead of being able to use it as an excuse. If I can train myself to run outside and enjoy it I think I can do the same with the treadmill. I think today I will be doing some sprints but not a serious long run today as after a week of some serious workouts that have included a dance class, two long runs, one hard-core bikram yoga class and two weight-training sessions I am beat!

On an exciting and very random note I had a kick butt audition Thursday which is the first big one I’ve had since starting to train. I really felt “in the zone” and I am going to give my new found running credit for that. So weird how running races on the weekend can lift your self confidence. The flip side is if I get this job it might mess up my goal to run the Chicago Marathon but I’m just rolling with the punches!

Off to run. Like I said before, SPRING ARRIVE!!!!

    Tiffy you can always do cross-training in the gym, like the elliptical or the bike. I find I enjoy doing those more than running on the treadmill, and it’s lower-impact.

    Have I mentioned how proud I am of you?
