Marathon Training Begins!
Today was my first day of Marathon training!!!! Whoooo hoooooo.
I have to say that for the last two Half-Marathons I started training a little late in the game and was not the best at following my training plans. Since this is a Marathon..26.2 miles and a lack of training might kill me…I am following this training plan very strictly.
I downloaded a Nike Running Plan from the Chicago Marathon website and part of me got excited that training didn’t begin for a couple weeks. Then, I took Gracie from Gracie’s Gear up on her offer to give me a personalized plan and I found out for novice slow pokes like me…training beings today.
I have been enjoying the warm weather, and had some friends visit which lead to some very late nights out and a lot of fun, food and cocktails. I slept in this morning since I worked all weekend and had to run to a commercial audition early-ish in the afternoon so I missed the possibility to run my 4m in the morning and decided to take out Fiona for a long walk instead.
Like all commercial audition I did my hair and makeup, showed up, smiled, pretended to eat something, said thank you and left. Not sure if it was the best audition of my life but it is never a natural experience to hold a plastic spoon and pretend you are eating an ice cream sundae.
When I came home I was way to excited to see that the French Open was on. I LOVE tennis. I have been known to attend days on end of the US Open here in New York and so I was a bit side-tracked by watching Roger Federer and Andy Roddick. Thankfully I pulled myself away from the TV to get my running gear on and hit the West Side HIghway.
4 miles today was a bit difficult. To be perfectly honest I haven’t tried to really run hard in a while and I made pretty good time but quickly realized that the next couple weeks I’m going to be getting back into running form. I felt GREAT though in the end and I’m happy that this journey has started.
Up next is the Women’s 10K in Central Park!
